Trash Collection

For our residential customers, garbage is collected twice weekly and recycling is collected once per week.  Please note, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Christmas Day are the only days of the year that garbage and recycling is not collected.

The City's collections for residential customers are divided into four zones for collecting garbage and bulk materials.  The 2023 Collection Schedules and Zone Map shows: Days of the week for collecting garbage; ALL recycling is collected on Wednesday of each week; Dates of the month for bulk-up;  and Tentative dates for collecting hazardous waste materials through the pre-scheduled At-Your-Door service.  Also shown are dates for the City's two Shredding Events and quarterly condominium bulk collection dates.

West Zone:  Your garbage collection is on Monday and Thursday.

Central North Zone:  Your garbage collection is on Monday and Thursday**.

Central South Zone: Your garbage collection is on  Tuesday and Friday.

East Zone:  Your garbage collection is on Tuesday and Friday.

**Properties on the south side of NE 26 Street, between N Andrews Ave and 5-Points, will be picked up with Central North collections**

All recycling is on Wednesday of each week.

By 7:00 a.m. on your garbage collection day, but not before the evening prior, your blue garbage cart must be placed within five (5) feet of the street. It is important for you always to have the cart facing the street.  After the garbage has been collected, you are required to remove the empty cart, by the end of the same day, to an area that is not visible from the street.  Please call (954) 390-2190 if your trash has not been collected by 5:00 p.m. on your garbage collection day.

 Additionally, please refer to the
Collection Days & Instructions for more information.

Overfilled Garbage Cart

The photo at right shows a garbage cart that was far too overfilled for the City's contractor, Waste Management, to be able to service. In order for their mechanized system to work, the lid of the garbage cart must be closed. In the example shown, the contents of the cart would not make it into the garbage truck, but would end up on the street.

Also, please be aware that blue garbage or green recycling carts that were not provided by the City of Wilton Manors (i.e. carts from other cities or private containers) will not be serviced by Waste Management and may be confiscated. Any garbage or recycling cart other than the roll-out container provided by the City of Wilton Manors that is placed at the curb on a regular collection day, may be removed and disposed of along with other trash.

Each residence is supplied with one 96 gallon garbage cart and one 65 gallon recycling cart. Additional carts are available for an additional monthly charge. Please call City Hall Utility Billing at (954) 390-2145 for the current rate and to arrange for delivery of an additional cart.

Residential customers who are physically disabled or mentally challenged and are unable to place roll-out garbage carts at the curb, may request side-door service. Additionally, residential customers who are 65 years or older may request to use a smaller 65-gallon garbage cart. The City may require sufficient documentation to determine eligibility for side-door service and the use of smaller 65-gallon carts.
