Wilton Manors/Oakland Park Joint Climate Action Plan

CAP Web-Graphic_1080x350_PNG

There are two overarching goals of the Plan:

  • Mitigate the effects of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 1% each year through
    the year 2028.
  • Increase resilience of our communities while
minimizing impacts to efficiency and cost-effective
    business operations.
NEXT STEPS IN 2019
Look for the following action items to be completed in 2019:

Wilton Manors has completed its 2015 Greenhouse Gas Inventory, which provides baseline carbon measurements in the various sectors from which reductions will be measured.  Oakland Park will complete theirs soon, so there is a baseline measurement of the carbon footprint of each city.

Later in 2019, the cities will be looking at prioritizing the goals of the plan, implementation, and ways to collaborate.

The Final Oakland Park/Wilton Manors Joint Climate Action Plan was  approved by the Wilton Manors City Commission and the Oakland Park City Commission early in 2019.

Public outreach meetings were held to solicit and receive public comment on the draft plan on November 15, 2018 and November 28, 2018.
